Weverse Issues Apology After BLACKPINK Notifications Were Sent To The Wrong Users
본문
Last month, it was announced that BLACKPINK would be joining HYBE‘s fan community platform Weverse. Now, as of August 2, they’ve finally arrived. However, after an error in the system affected notifications for BLACKPINK’s posts, Weverse has issued an apology to all users.
BLACKPINK’s highly awaited arrival on Weverse was met with huge support from fans today. Within just one hour of joining the platform as part of their “4+1” anniversary project, BLACKPINK had already racked up over 500,000 Weverse followers.

Of course, BLACKPINK isn’t the only K-Pop group on Weverse. Founded by HYBE two years ago, the community platform is home to fans of BTS, TXT, SEVENTEEN, ENHYPEN, TREASURE, and many more. As such, Weverse communities are segmented by artist to ensure fans only receive notifications about the acts they’re following.

However, after BLACKPINK joined Weverse, fans of other groups soon found themselves receiving notifications they hadn’t signed up for. Many took to social media to express their confusion as to why non-followers were receiving these updates, including several BLINKs, who were concerned that the move may lead to unwarranted hate comments towards BLACKPINK.

Thankfully for fans of BLACKPINK and all other Weverse groups, it has now been confirmed that these notifications were caused by a temporary system error on Weverse that has now been resolved. In a new notice, the platform issued an apology to all users, explaining what had happened. We sincerely apologize for causing inconveniences to our users due to a temporary system error.

Weverse went on to say that the error has now been corrected, which means that only users who follow BLACKPINK will receive their notifications from now on. Meanwhile, the BLACKPINK members are proving their popularity as they fast approach 1 million Weverse followers less than 12 hours after joining the platform.
