GHOST9‘s Prince is garnering attention for roasting the group’s company in his latest viral video.
GHOST9’s Prince | Maroo EntertainmentGHOST9 is a 7-member boy group under Maroo Entertainment, consisting of Junhyung, Shin, Kangsung, Junseong, Prince, Woojin and Jinwoo. Most members were initially introduced via Mix Nine and Produce X 101, while the group officially debuted on September 23, 2020, with their first mini-album DOOR. You might also remember them from Peak Time.
GHOST9 members | Maroo EntertainmentPreviously, Prince posted a video titled “Come cook with me in the practice room until I get busted by my manager.” He prepared unagi, and netizens couldn’t get over how humorous the video was. Spoiler: he didn’t get caught.
Since the video went viral, Prince released two more parts, preparing chocolate-stuffed coffee buns and Thai-style steak with sticky rice. Each time, he claimed the manager was preoccupied either reading Webtoon or on a “digital detox.” So, he was never caught.
Now, Prince is back with part 4. This time, he made Oreo chocolate chip cookies.

[Video could not be displayed]| @maroo_ghost9/TikTokAt this point, there’s literally no way manager-nim hasn’t seen my videos. This whole thing started out as a joke, but it’s been doing so much better than anything our company puts out. So, they could fire me for not doing my job… Or give me a raise for doing theirs. You know what? I should be demanding a raise!
— Prince
The video went viral with 1.3M and 447K views on TikTok and Instagram, respectively, at the time of writing. Netizens laughed over Prince’s sarcastic sense of humor. Still, some couldn’t help but wonder if it was okay for Prince to make such jokes, as they had never seen an idol so openly insult his own company.
This wouldn’t be the first time fans were concerned. Fans’ concerns sparked once it became a viral series, worried he was actually “risking” a hiatus.
While Prince’s videos are marketed as if they are all of his own doing and he’s trying not to be “caught” by staff, a group’s social media accounts are usually still operated by staff even if an artist is filming the content. The videos are posted on Prince’s individual Instagram account but the group’s official TikTok. Based on its editing style, it seems as though it could still be a clever publicity stunt by the company.
Besides, there was truth to what Prince said. His TikTok videos have only helped more discover GHOST9. Many commenters confess that they are getting into the group due to his videos or that they’re even non-fans who enjoy watching the posted content.
So, maybe Prince really does deserve a raise!
