After the release of the Netflix series Squid Game, the actors are seeing overnight popularity. With many of the actors unknown to K-Drama fans and viewers worldwide, many have been trying to find out more about these newest stars!
In particular, one actor who has been gaining a lot of attention is actor Wi Ha Joon, who portrays the role of police officer Hwang Jun Ho in the series.
Yet, although he has been part of some huge K-Dramas and films, it is only now that he has been gaining attention for his skills and visuals.
Wi Ha Joon was born on August 5, 1991, in the South Jeolla Province. Despite studying at Sungkyul University and receiving a diploma in theater and film, Wi Ha Joon actually started as a model when he signed with MSTeam Entertainment. With his dazzling visuals, it is not surprising that this was his first taste of fame.
Yet, it wasn’t until 2012 when Wi Ha Joon made his acting debut in a short film called Peace in Them. After a small break, Wi Ha Joon really became focused on acting in 2015, starring in the movie Coin Locker Girl, alongside the likes of Park Bo Gum and Kim Hye Soo.

Yet, although it might surprise fans, he has recently starred in some huge K-Dramas where people may not have recognized him. In 2019, he was one of the main cast in Romance Is a Bonus Book, playing Ji Seo Joon. He was a freelance book designer who had a turbulent relationship with Cha Eun Ho, played by Lee Jong Suk.
If that wasn’t enough, he was also in the 2020 K-Drama 18 Again, where he played famous baseball player Ye Ji Hoon. His character was well known and loved by fans, and he falls for the lead female character Jung Da Jung, played by Kim Ha Neul. In the show, fans fell for his charm and visuals, which definitely seemed top-tier.

Yet, before he even made waves in Squid Game, 2021 was already a big year for Wi Ha Joon as he starred in the movie Shark: The Beginning. This move had more publicity than many of his other productions, and he even appeared on the much-loved Showterview With Jessi alongside his fellow actors.

Yet, it was the recent release of Squid Game that drew eyes to Wi Ha Joon! With his popularity growing, viewers worldwide are falling in love with his charms and visuals. In particular, he will be on the cover for the October 2021 edition of Men’s Health Korea! Although it is exciting, the actor has been making headlines for his perfectly chiseled abs that are front and center on the magazine’s cover.
Hopefully, with more eyes on him than ever before, this might be the platform to make his name known worldwide. He has already been picked as one of the hottest rising actors in the industry, despite his experience!
