What Red Velvet’s Cryptic New Instagram Update Might Mean For Their August Comeback

RevVeluvs have been waiting for a full group Red Velvet comeback for more than a year and half and it appears as if the wait might be over.
At Midnight (KST) on July 26, Red Velvet updated their Instagram account, making it almost unrecognizable. The first noticeable change was the account name, which now reads “Queens Mystic General Store” and featured a profile image of a cat with two different eye colors.
The next major change was the biography section which now welcomes fans to the store with a tagline “You can find ‘NEW YOU’ in here.”
The pinned stories also now featured 5 new themed categories: “Invitation”, “Queens”, “Merchandise”, “Welcome”, and “Beyond Queens” with only the invitation section featuring more than a header.
Under the “Invitation” story, the first of 5 videos begin to play with a poster for the “store” centered. On the poster are 5 removable tabs with each of the members names on it. The first member to pull her tab is Yeri followed by Joy, Seulgi, Irene, and Wendy.

In Seulgi’s video, it appears as if she is on the set of their “Russian Roulette” video due to the appearance of the tennis balls and her orange hair. This might suggest that the other members are also pulling their tabs at previous videos.
Finally, across all social media platforms, a video titled “Queens Archive – Red Velvet 레드벨벳 ‘Somethin Kinda Crazy” appeared with a one minute long clip of the song “Somethin Kinda Crazy” from their 2015 “Ice Cream Cake” mini album. In the video, new footage of the group plays with what appears to be a remastered version of the track underneath.
So what might this all mean? The most obvious suggestion is that this will be a lead up to their 7th anniversary as the end date in the Instagram biography is August 1, the same day as their debut.

This would also fit with the Queens Archive theme of remastering beloved Red Velvet songs as a lead up to their August comeback.

If the theory that the poster the girls are pulling the tabs from are in previous video locations as well, this would also fit the anniversary theme.
While there is still potential this is the first teaser for the official comeback, it remains unclear as of right now. Either way, we can’t wait to fall down the rabbit hole of Red Velvet theories. Let us know what you’re thinking this might mean!
