BTS‘s hit English single “Dynamite” has earned yet another achievement! This time, the track has made it onto the IFPI Global Digital Single Chart.

Every year, the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (more commonly known as the IFPI) totals streams and sales across the world and consolidates them into three main charts: the Global Artist Chart, the Album Chart, and the Single Chart.

The first chart ranking to be revealed was the IFPI Global Artist Chart, which tallies up the year’s album and single sales (digital and physical) and streams to determine the biggest and most successful artists of the year. In a major breakthrough for K-Pop, BTS ranked no.1 on the chart and was officially named the “Global Recording Artist Of The Year 2020”.

Beating out Taylor Swift and Drake for the top spot, BTS became the first-ever non-English singing act to reach no.1 since the IFPI Global Artist Chart began in 2013. Now, they’ve earned a spot on the IFPI Global Digital Single Chart too: “Dynamite” is the 10th biggest single of 2020 worldwide.

The IFPI Global Digital Single Chart is based on a song’s audio streams, video streams, and downloads throughout the year. Despite being released just four months before 2020 ended, “Dynamite” managed to accumulate enough sales and streams to reach no.10 on the chart. This marks BTS’s first entry on the Global Digital Single Chart, making them the second Korean artist to rank since PSY‘s “Gangnam Style” reached no.3 in 2013.

Of course, this should come as little surprise given the song’s incredible performance thus far. “Dynamite” became the first-ever song by a South Korean act to debut at no.1 on the Billboard Top 100 chart, where it stayed for several weeks. The song also achieved the biggest opening day for a 2020 release on Spotify, where it accrued 7.778 million streams in 24 hours.

With 265,000 pure sales in its first seven days, “Dynamite” had the biggest sales week since Taylor Swift released “Look What You Made Me Do” in 2017. Alongside success in South Korea and the U.S.A, the track reached the top 10 in over 20 more countries and currently holds gold or platinum certification in 14 territories.

In their announcement, the IFPI referred to “Dynamite” as BTS’s “all-conquering first English-language single“. The song sits just behind Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy” on the 2020 Global Digital Single Chart.
