Koreans React To A Brand Releasing “Inclusive” Shades Of Dark Foundation
본문
South Korean makeup brands are widely known for not having an “inclusive” range of shades. This is mostly because most Korean brands are not big enough to target a wider global audience, choosing to focus on local markets or East Asian markets. While more global brands have tried to be more inclusive in their shade range, it is rare to find a Korean homegrown brand that offers an extensive shade range.
On the other hand, in America, where society is less homogenous, brands release wide ranges of shades to cater to their customers. Sometimes, darker shades are still not inclusive enough. As one beauty YouTuber called Golloriaa shows, even darker shades were not able to match her gorgeous skin.
| theqooThis was why many were excited to hear that Youthforia had released a wide line of shades. Their deepest colors scale far down on the spectrum of foundation shades, releasing even what seemed to be an almost black shade.
| theqooAlthough many were initially excited for the inclusive line, customers were disappointed when they swatched the actual product. The last color in the line was simply a pitch black, rather than a hue that suits darker skin tones.
| theqooA YouTuber with beautiful deep skin bought a bottle to test out for herself.
| theqooShe swatched it next to actual black paint just to show audiences how the product was. The results were not far from each other.
| theqooNeedless to say, the brand was heavily slammed over the product. Even dark skin tones have different undertones such as warm or cool, but their foundation was simply pure black. Even Korean netizens were fuming at the racism.
| theqoo- Honestly, their motives are so obvious.
- Why are they like that?
- They’re so mean.
- It’s not like new products take a day to release. They would have to discuss it, plan it, leading to contact between various departments LOL. The fact that the product was released means that even if someone objected, their opinions were buried by higher-ups.
- This is just outright mockery…
- Wow, they’re f*cking crazy LOL. The level of that company…
- Wow.
- Although there may be people with skin that dark, but looking at the comments, if they really just made it pitch black, then this is just f*cking racism that they put a lot of money into.
- Wow, such trash.
