IVE’s Gauel Goes Viral For Her Comment On Prioritizing Singing Over Dancing — The Real Context Is Unexpected

IVE‘s Gauel is going viral for her comments about prioritizing vocals, but the real context is surprising.

There has been a discourse in K-Pop recently on the topic of idols’ singing and especially their live vocals. Idols have been criticized for their “lack of skills” when it comes to singing, and it’s why Gaeul’s recent comments have gained so much attention.

Two screenshots from a new video featuring members of IVE have gone viral as Gaeul was seen speaking about “focusing on singing” rather than dancing.

It instantly got a lot of attention, but the quotes were full of people finding it funny that they thought Gaeul was speaking about the current state of K-Pop when she actually did it in the context of the video and didn’t mention any idols. Many others also pointed out that Gaeul has continuously improved since debut and despite being a rapper, also has an amazing voice.

In the actual context, it came from a variety show that Gauel, Liz, and Leeseo were on.

During the video, the host was showcasing his skills in an attempt to be an idol, and at one point, he was showing off his dancing skills. Liz adorably joked that he looked like an electrocuted wave.

The caption then showed the members thought he had more potential when it came to singing. Leeseo then explained that when the host showcased his falsetto, it was good and it emphasized why Gauel thought he should focus on the singing.
