NCT’s Yuta | @yuu_taa_1026/InstagramWhile the life of an idol is sometimes very secretive, K-Pop has been opening the doors to the industry through documentaries, and it was no different when NCT 127 released the documentary Lost Boys.
In the first episode of The Shin Show, the special guest was director Jayil Pak who recently worked on the documentary NCT 127: The Lost Boys.

During the video, the two chatted about the experience and the members. At one point, the director explained that Yuta was extremely honest during the filming of the documentary.
In fact, like Yuta was too honest. I mean I was excited that he was this honest. At that point, I didn’t know how much would get edited out.

In particular, he then shared that when he was filming some of the things Yuta was saying, he knew straight away that it couldn’t be included in the final cut.
But I knew that some of the stuff Yuta said, I was like, ‘Ah, I can’t include this in the documentary series.

When the clip was posted, netizens shared their anger that despite it being a documentary to show the reality of NCT, it was heavily edited, and Yuta was “censored” for his honesty as many fans assumed it didn’t fit the narrative SM Entertainment wanted to portray.

Yuta is too honest & real despite his idol status & is the reason why they were shocked when he was ready to share everything with sincerity. Like why pretend to have a documentary at the first place when you actually don't want to have the ones being documented on be honest? https://t.co/kCQK7Wr9zy

The life of an idol isn’t easy, and while some are able to share their experiences, it’s not surprising that it would be harder for someone like Yuta to be in a group like NCT. While fans understand the limitations, many don’t understand why they would do the documentary and they have such strict restrictions on a product that was meant to be genuine.
