Maid Cafe Gets Cancelled As Videos Spread Of Waitresses “Berating And Punishing” Willing Male Customers

An event held by fans in a cafe quickly got shut down upon news of what was happening inside emerged.

SubaToki Cafe is a Singapore-based company that runs the so-called “Tsundere Cafe,” based on the concept of someone who is cold on the outside but has a soft spot for someone on the inside.

The maid-dressed waitresses embody this concept in the way they interact with customers, “punishing” them during games…

…but also feeding them sweetly.

It was the former that eventually led to their pop-up cafe at the Singapore Management University (SMU) being cancelled. The university pulled out their hosting of the scheduled event after unsavory videos taken in the main branch were spread.

Here, the male customers were seen being hit and even stepped on by waitresses in the elaborate uniforms.

They were also asked to do push-ups and other punishments in the middle of the room.

Though this is not out of the ordinary for a maid cafe and the male customers were willing participants, the university decided it wanted to distance itself from this image.

We do not think that an activity such as this is appropriate to be held on campus. We are disappointed that this has come to light in this manner, and have taken steps to ensure that tenants abide by their obligations.
