On August 14, a post appeared on Beat Berry’s Instagram that did not seem like her usual content. It was a picture of her closet with a caption that did not appear to make sense.

In addition to the cryptic post, all her posts were deleted. There were claims among some netizens that Beat Berry’s former husband hacked her Instagram.

On August 17, Beat Berry took to her Instagram and explained what had happened to her the past three days. She first apologized for worrying people with her post.

First of all, I want to apologize for causing concern and worry to many people on social media. This was an incident that happened beyond my control, and I want to clarify that I made my best efforts to rectify the situation.

She claimed to have gone through three “hellish days” and that she could stay silent about what happened to her. Therefore, she spoke up and revealed that she was physically assaulted and held captive by the assailant, who took her phone.

Starting from the early morning of August 13, I was physically assaulted and held captive by the assailant, who also took my phone. All the stories, posts, message responses, and live broadcasts that appeared on my Instagram since then were done by the assailant. On the evening of August 14, around 7 p.m. (KST), the assailant attacked me from behind with a wooden block while I was defenseless, and he choked me. I was tied up and held captive until 5 a.m the next day.

She then clarified a now-deleted post from August 14 where she allegedly claimed to have regained control of her Instagram.

Even at the time when a post claiming that I had regained control of my Instagram along with a photo of me smiling was uploaded on August 14, I was still tied up and unable to access my account. I want to clarify that I did not upload that post.

Beat Berry was able to escape and reported the incident to the police.

After narrowly escaping, I imeediately went to the nearest police station and reported the incident. The assailant has been arrested.
