BTS’s Suga Proves To Be A Trendsetter As His Nickname Is Now Widely Used By Other Fandoms

But their fandom ARMY is just as much filled with trendsetters!
While there are numerous examples we can give to prove this statement, one recent instance comes to mind…
Twitter user @monoskiin shared a photo of Thomas Raggi, a member of the Italian rock band Måneskin, arriving at the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards. Rather than refer to him as Thomas, they called him “Little meow meow.”

This nickname is often associated with BTS’s Suga due to his catlike features and characteristics. ARMY has called him this for a hot minute, beginning approximately around 2018.
So, naturally, ARMY were confused when they saw the caption alongside a photo of a man that is definitely not Suga.

Well, it turns out that fans of Thomas Raggi often refer to him as “Little Meow Meow.” If you search the phrase on Twitter anytime now, you can find numerous posts about him…

While others are bothered by someone else being referred to as the nickname popularized by Suga, there are others that are more than okay with it. Some even hope that they can meet and collaborate one day.

Thomas and Suga are not actually the only ones that are called “Little Meow Meow” now. In fact, you can see it used for just about anyone now, especially fictional characters, primarily villains that we can’t help but love.

Nevertheless, this specific term “Little Meow Meow” was not used frequently at all until recently. At one time, the only ones referred to like this or the alternative “Lil Meow Meow” were actual cats, as seen by this viral video from 2017.

Then in 2018, we saw a resurgence of this term then be used by ARMY when talking about Suga. If you look at tweets from that year with “lil meow meow” or “little meow meow,” it’s primarily of Suga.
Some ARMY even used this nickname for Suga as early as 2016!

Now, if you search anything like “lil meow meow” or “little meow meow” on Twitter, you’ll see posts from just about every fandom, not just ARMY or even K-Pop in general. Marvel fans, anime fans, K-Drama fans, and more all refer to someone as this endearing nickname.
Yet, when one looks up the meaning of “lil meow meow” on Urban Dictionary, one individual’s name comes up, explaining that it started with him. It’s none other than Suga.
So, while this is now a cute nickname often used by everyone, ARMY and non-ARMY, there’s no denying that Suga is the OG.
