Gaon certifications are a huge accomplishment for K-Pop artists to receive, either for singles or full albums. They’re based on sales, streams, and downloads, so they’re a great indicator of an album or song’s popularity!

When it comes to albums, a platinum certification is given at 250,000 sales; a double platinum at 500,000 sales; a triple platinum at 750,000 sales; and a million at 1,000,000 sales (and 2, 3, and 4 million for reaching those numbers as well, though they are extremely rare).
