ARIAZ’s Jueun Suffers “Mental Damage” Due to “False Rumors”; ARIAZ To Promote As 5 Members

Best known for their debut track, “Moonlight Aria,” Rising Star Entertainment‘s girl group ARIAZ just announced a digital single comeback with “Hot & Cold.” However, in a new statement, the agency revealed that 20-year-old maknae Jueun will not be promoting with the group due to “mental damage.”
On September 15, Rising Star Entertainment posted a statement for fans across the group’s social media accounts revealing that ARIAZ will be releasing a new remake song: “Hot & Cold,” presumably a new version of the original track by Jewelry. However, the company also announced that that ARIAZ will now be promoting as a five-member group without Jueun (also known as Jooeun).

Rising Star Entertainment went on to say that Jueun is currently suffering from “mental damage” as a result of “ groundless false rumors that are continuously circulating online.” Among the attacks are malicious comments which have led Jueun to experience anxiety.

While the agency didn’t elaborate on the content of these comments and attacks, it’s likely that they’re related to a controversy Jueun went through during ARIAZ’s debut era. ARIAZ debuted on October 24, 2019, with three members who had previously competed on survival shows: Produce 101 Season 1‘s Yoonji and Sihyeon and MIXNINE‘s Hyokyung. However, at ARIAZ’s debut showcase, reporters focused primarily on another member: Jueun.
Instead of focusing on ARIAZ’s debut, reporters brought up rumors that Jueun had behaved inappropriately during her youth, including smoking cigarettes and drinking alcohol while underage. Perhaps surprisingly, Jueun didn’t deny these allegations. Instead, she immediately apologized and expressed her regret for her past actions.

I’m deeply regretful and reflective of my indifferent actions. I will try to avoid damaging the team and I will do my best [to work in this job] with the right thoughts. I hope you will watch me well.

Alongside drinking and smoking, then-18-year-old Jueun was also accused of bullying—something which Rising Star Entertainment vehemently denied. Just one week after her debut, the company filed a criminal complaint with the Seoul Mapo Police Station against online posts regarding the school violence controversy.

In its statement on Jueun’s current status, Rising Star Entertainment explained that the ARIAZ members, Jueun herself, and the agency have decided to reorient the group as a “five-member system.” The agency also noted that spreading defamatory rumors online is a criminal act, and revealed that they’ve already been taking legal action against remarks made about Jueun. Going forward, they intend to do the same.

Despite the fact that the agency has continuously taken legal action against the spread of false information related to Jueun, these actions have been continuously expanded and reproduced. Generating and spreading false facts online, as well as distributing them created by others, are also subject to criminal punishment. We will track and monitor these acts to the end and take all possible civil and criminal legal measures without any tolerance.

Ultimately, the company concluded by assuring fans that Rising Star Entertainment will be doing its best to “keep ARIAZ active” while also “providing constant support” to Jueun in order to improve her mental health so she can return with “more mature music and new stages.”

Upon reading the statement, fans across social media expressed their love and support for Jueun. Now, as the idol goes through her mental health recovery, many are wondering what will be next for Jueun.
Rising Star Entertainment’s statement was left somewhat ambiguous, failing to explicitly state whether Jueun’s hiatus will be permanent or temporary. In any case, listeners are hoping it won’t be long until Jueun is feeling better and that her company will be successful in taking legal action against the malicious commenters in question.
