BTS’s Jungkook Revealed How His Perception Of The Older Members Has Changed Since Trainee Days

BTS has stuck together through thick and thin ever since they were trainees. One member in particular truly grew alongside the rest—maknae Jungkook, who was only 15 years old when he debuted.

Knowing this, Weverse Magazine asked Jungkook in a past interview about the words he said in their track “Skit” where he talked about the things he did before becoming a trainee.

Speaking of growth, ‘Skit’ was very memorable. You recorded it the day after ‘Dynamite’ reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and you, who talked about what you did before you became trainees in ‘Skit’ in your debut album, talked about being first place on the Billboard Hot 100 this time around.

That reminded Jungkook of his perception of the older members at that time. He recalled seeing them rapping and thinking they were extremely cool. Now, however, it hardly crosses his mind because of how much time they spend together!

When I was a trainee, I saw the older members rapping and thought, ‘Wow, they’re so cool!‘ But now, after having spent everyday together, I’ve forgotten about all that. (laughs)

In a way, he became desensitized to their many talents. The only time he remembers how skilled they are is when he sees their work or watches them perform on stage.

Sometimes I see the lyrics they wrote, see them dancing and hearing the things they say on stage, and think, ‘Oh, right. That is the kind of person they are. They’re a lot different now.‘

Concluding his thoughts, Jungkook likened his experience with BTS to that of a family. When members of a family live together, they don’t think much about each other. It’s only when they haven’t seen each other in a while that they start missing each other.

For Jungkook, BTS’s bond is just like any other blood-related family.

You know how you don’t feel it when you live with your family, but if you can’t see them for a long time, you miss them. You might even cry. We’re a real family. Like, legit! (laughs)
