The Prosecution Reveals What YG Entertainment Founder Yang Hyun Suk Threatened An Informant With

It was previously revealed during former iKON member, B.I‘s that due to an informant, the police had been tipped off about a purchase of drugs made by B.I. In 2020, B.I. underwent a drug test which returned negative. However, due to his admission of guilt in 2019, his case was still sent to prosecution. He was not acquitted and the charges were not dropped after the negative drug test results. B.I’s first trial date was set for July 9, 2021.

On the other hand, the informant, who was later revealed to be former trainee Han Seo Hee, had been threatened by YG Entertainment founder, Yang Hyun Suk, to revise her statement. In a recent court trial, the police revealed the way in which he had threatened her. On August 13, 2021, a court trial was opened for Yang Hyun Suk regarding charges of threat and attempts to cover up crime. Although the prosecution had revealed that Yang Hyun Suk had indeed threatened the informant, Yang Hyun Suk denied all claims. He was not present at the court trial but delivered his stand through his lawyer.

The prosecution revealed that Yang Hyun Suk had been reported by a Mr. Kim, who was the head of the management support office in YG Entertainment and later on, Han Seo Hee had been arrested and made a statement on B.I’s drug usage. Later on, Yang Hyun Suk met with Han Seo Hee and threatened her with the following.

You have to be a good kid, you can’t be a bad one. I can see all the records. So change your statement. You seem like someone who will stay in the entertainment industry, but it’s not a big deal for me to just kill off a kid like you.

However, the trial has been postponed as Yang Hyun Suk’s lawyer pleaded not guilty on his behalf and claims there was no threat involved. They also argued that the evidence presented by the prosecution for this case was mixed with the evidence for the alleged witness evacuation and hence appealed for another trial where the evidence is clearly separated so that they are able to properly carry out a defense. This was accepted and a trial has been set for September 17, 2021.

With regards to the “witness evacuation” case, Yang Hyun Suk had also been accused of trying to send Han Seo Hee overseas through connections with Han Seo Hee’s then agency’s CEO. However, the said CEO is currently on the run.
