Incredible Indonesian ARMYs Help Vaccinate 10,000 People Through A BTS Exhibition

Alongside striving to help the world themselves, the BTS members also inspire their fans to do the same. Last week, for example, a group of Indonesian ARMYs organized a BTS exhibition and vaccination program for 10,000 citizens.

Sadly, Indonesia has recently recorded some of the highest rates of COVID-19 infection in the world. While over 69 million vaccination doses have been administered so far, only 7.9% of the country’s population is confirmed to be fully vaccinated. That’s why one group of BTS fans recently rallied together to help propel the country’s vaccination rates and get more people protected against the virus.

CNN Indonesia reports that a group of Indonesian ARMYs (locally known as Senyum ARMY) used the power of BTS to hold a mass vaccination program in Jakarta on July 31. Taking place at the Jakarta Convention Center, the event provided 10,000 Sinovac vaccination doses (courtesy of the Indonesian government) to all citizens aged teen and above—regardless of whether they were BTS fans or not.

Supported by major brands like Epson and Gojek, the mass vaccination event also had a component for citizens who are ARMYs—a BTS-themed exhibition. Titled Stay Gold for the Vaccinated, the show featured stunning artworks of the BTS members. On top of that, Senyum ARMY played a full BTS concert video for everyone to watch while receiving their vaccines.

The event’s spokesperson, BTS fan Selly Wilson, explained that the vaccination drive was set up to help “quickly break the COVID-19 chain of spread so that we can all return to our normal activities.” She went on to say, “We will help to make the vaccination drive be more accessible to all citizens so that all BTS Army alongside their families and friends can be protected during this pandemic.

Amazingly, this isn’t the first time Indonesian ARMYs have used their love for BTS to drive their charitable endeavors. Back in March and April last year, fans in the country united in a project titled BTS Army Indonesia Charity Against Corona, which raised tens of thousands of dollars to provide personal protective equipment, disinfectants, and more to families and healthcare workers in need.

After drivers for the food delivery platform Gojek strived to deliver the special edition McDonald’s “BTS Meal” to fans earlier this year despite crowded conditions, Indonesian ARMYs went on to raise over $10,000 USD to provide the drivers with food packages.
