3 Times BTS Changed The Lyrics In Their Songs And The Meaning Behind Them
본문
Over the years, there have been moments where BTS changed the lyrics in their songs. Here are 3 of these moments.
1. Changing the lyrics in “Fake Love”
When BTS performed “Fake Love” at the 2018 Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs), some changes were made to Suga and J-Hope‘s parts. The lyrics for their parts included the Korean words “내가 (naega)” and “니가 (niga),” which mean “I” and “You” in context for their song. People unfamiliar with the Korean language might have thought they were saying a racial slur in the song, so they decided to change the lyrics.
There will be many people hearing the song for the first time, and when they hear that part that sounds like it is in English, there could be misunderstandings from that, so to prevent that, we changed the lyrics but made sure not to change how the song sounds.

RM also praised Suga and J-Hope, as they had to learn new lyrics for the performance.

With time, BTS started gaining popularity and became one of the biggest musical acts in the world. At the 2018 SBS Gayo Daejeon, Suga made a small change to the lyrics in “No More Dream,” as he removed the “I wanna” part.
I just realized that suga didnt said “I want a big house, big cars and big rings and straight sing “big house big cars and big big rings” BECAUSE WHY ? BECAUSE HE ALREADY HAVE ALL OF IT pic.twitter.com/NxY0RM8MBO

3. RM changing the lyrics in “Pied Piper”
BTS’s “Pied Piper” is a seductively sweet song about fans’ priorities (aka BTS vs. Life’s Responsibilities). In the song, RM raps about how fans should stop spending their study time looking at BTS.
Stop
Now stop watching and study for your test
Your parents and boss hate me
Video clips, pictures, tweets
V app, Bon Voyage
I know, you can’t help what you like
But stop, interpret the music video later
You have so many pictures of me in your room anyway
It’s not just one hour, it’s a whole year that’ll disappear
So this song is an award I’m giving to you

At BTS’s 5th Muster in Chiba, Japan, RM made a small change to the lyrics in “Pied Piper.” RM changed “your parents and boss hate me” to “your parents and boss like me,” and fans were loving this “flex!”
Bonus: Jungkook dedicating a song to his hyungs
In episode 98 of Run BTS!, Jungkook decided to make a small change when he sang “Ripe Persimmon” by Na Hoona. The song is originally about mothers, but Jungkook changed the lyrics to dedicate it to his hyungs, who raised him when he was a teenager!
