6 Reasons Why BTS Deserves To Win A GRAMMY Award In 2021

BTS just made history by becoming the IFPI Global Artist Chart’s “2020 Global Recording Artist of the Year”. First IFPI, next GRAMMY Awards? Proud fans are saying yes, and these are just 6 of the many reasons why.
1. Breaking barriers as global artists
Each year the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) tallies global sales and streams for the “Album Chart”, “Singles Chart”, and “Global Artist Chart.” BTS earned spots on the “Global Artist Chart” in 2018 and 2019, but their 2020 achievement is unprecedented.

With combined sales and streams from MAP OF THE SOUL: 7 and BE, BTS took the number one spot on the “Global Artist Chart”, becoming the first Asian and non-English singing artist to do so. This is just one example of how BTS has surpassed language barriers and cultural barriers to truly become global artists.
2. “Dynamite”, King of the Billboard Charts
BTS’s “Dynamite” is nominated for “Best Pop Duo/Group Performance” at the 2021 GRAMMY Awards. This disco-pop bop was a ray of hope in the midst of the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, and it marked a new level of international fame for BTS.
“Dynamite” earned BTS their first No.1 debut on Billboard’s “Hot 100” chart, and it peaked at No.1 on both the Billboard “Global 200” and Billboard “Global Excl. US” charts. The Billboard Charts are widely regarded as the most notable music charts in the US, and more than a few top-ranked artists have become GRAMMY winners.

3. Veteran award-winners
The length of an artist’s career doesn’t necessarily determine the quality of their work or decide whether they should win a GRAMMY. That said, in their eight-year career, BTS has swept award shows at home and abroad, earning more than 360 first-place awards.

Their trophy room showcases grand prizes from Korea’s most prestigious music award shows, as well as awards from the American Music Awards, Billboard Music Awards, and MTV Video Music Awards. The only thing missing is a GRAMMY!
4. Quality music
BTS has released over two hundred songs, many of which have broken records and won major awards. Looking for a bad BTS song? You’ll be hard-pressed to find one. Both fans and critics have praised their musicality.

Despite churning out non-stop releases, BTS never sacrifices quality. Each song is carefully composed and produced with their listeners in mind; BTS’s members only want to release the best songs for their fans, and they’ve done it over, and over, and over again.
5. Asian Icons
BTS began their careers as underdogs. On their rise to fame, they faced countless challenges, including blatant racism and xenophobia, that still continues to this day.
Each triumph is a triumph for BTS as a group, but also for all Asian artists who have been discriminated against in the entertainment industry. A win for BTS is a win for the Asian community, who deserves a place in the GRAMMY hall of fame.
6. Suga
As ARMYs say, “What Yoongi wants, Yoongi gets.” Suga has predicted many of BTS’s well-deserved achievements, sometimes years before they happened. He is very vocal about his desire for a GRAMMY, and according to ARMY, it’s time for his dream to come true!
