Foreign K-Pop Fansite Gets Arrested For Attempting To Defraud A Business In Seoul

A non-Korean K-Pop fan, speculated to be a well-known fansite, has landed herself in trouble for committing a crime in South Korea.

According to reports on April 19, KST, the fansite, identified as a Japanese woman in her 30s, was arrested on suspicions of fraud. She allegedly left for Japan after renting a camera at a rental store in Seoul, South Korea.

The store claimed that the fansite owner borrowed gear worth nearly 1.3 million Japanese yen, which is nearly ₩11.6 million KRW (about $8,400 USD). The gear includes two cameras and one lens.

The store clerk said they never suspected her because she left her passport as collateral in the store. She was able to depart from the country without returning the goods, regardless. It is being assumed that she handed the store an expired passport to trick them.

She was caught trying to leave the country without returning the borrowed items. Many fans on X (formerly Twitter) are speculating that this individual is a well-known ENHYPEN fansite. However, nothing about her actual identity has been reported as of yet.
