RIIZE Faces Accusations Of “Copying” NewJeans Once Again

SM Entertainment is again being accused of “copying” NewJeans for RIIZE‘s upcoming release by netizens.

The boy group drew significant attention recently after they were spotted filming a new music video in Portugal. The video, fans speculated, might be a part of their upcoming mini-album, as SM Entertainment had previously revealed that RIIZE plans to put out one sometime between April and June.

While this sneak peek was bittersweet news to the group’s fans,  many non-fans who came across the clips were reminded of NewJeans. Apart from the fact that NewJeans also shot their music video for “Super Shy” in Portugal, both the groups had their filming process posted online by bystanders, creating excitement around their anticipated releases.

Netizens claimed that SM Entertainment was “copying” the marketing strategy for NewJeans and applying it on RIIZE. Many brought up the previous visual similarities between the two groups’ projects, including the accusations of “Love 119” being “plagiarized” from “Ditto.”
