Webtoon author Yaongi once went viral for her beauty. Fans called her the real-life version of her own character, True Beauty‘s Jukyung.
Yaongyi. From her styling to her body, even down to her hair and face, many wondered if she had based the character on herself. She particularly gained fame in 2021, and began appearing on various variety shows. Fans called her the goddess of the webtoon world!
As fast as she shot to fame, Yaongyi dropped like a meteor. She was involved in a scandal in 2022, where she was suspected to have evaded taxes. She used a variety of means, including paying out a salary to her family members, even though they were not involved in her work. As she is also famous for leading a lavish life, only wearing luxury goods and driving supercars, the scandal hit hard.
So what has she been up to since she disappeared from public view? In the same year as her tax evasion scandal, she married her boyfriend. He is the author of another top webtoon, Free Draw.

She has two other spin-off works involving side characters from True Beauty. Fans were disappointed that she had been milking True Beauty for such a long time. It spanned from 2018 to 2023!
It seems like she has been working on something new. In January 2024, she teased fans with a drawing of a mysterious character. She captioned it “coming up next.”
She continued to tease fans with yet another drawing a month later.
