LE SSERAFIM’s Upcoming “EASY” Music Video Already Deemed Ineligible For Broadcast By KBS

A couple of weeks ago, (G)I-DLE‘s recent release “Wife” was deemed “unfit for broadcasting” by KBS due to the “sexually explicit” lyrics in the song. Another one of the B-side tracks from their new 2 album, “Rollie”, was also banned due to the mentioning of a brand in the lyrics.

The decision was met with backlash from netizens who think that KBS’s reasons for banning certain songs can be hypocritical at times, with other artists (particularly male artists) allegedly allowed to get away with similar lyrics and concepts. But there have been a number of other K-Pop songs and music videos that have been considered unfit for broadcast for various reasons, ranging from explicit content to the inclusion of brand names to even the behaviors of some idols in music videos (such as BLACKPINK‘s Rosé not wearing a seatbelt in “Kill This Love”).

And now, LE SSERAFIM has joined the list of artists with a music video that has been deemed ineligible for broadcast with their not-yet-released song, “EASY”.

The teaser that was shared earlier today of the upcoming title track didn’t make it obvious what could possibly be in the music video that made KBS ban it, but there has been an explanation given.

According to KBS, the reason for the ban is “risk of imitation”.

While this reason is vague and might not make sense to some, it seems that there might be dangerous behaviors (similar to the “Kill This Love” example) in the music video that officials are concerned might influence viewers to do the same. However, the exact details are not yet known.
