REM (Scott Kim) Addresses Allegations That He Took Producer Credit For DPR IAN Songs
본문
This week, former DPR business manager REM (also known as Scott Kim) has come under fire.
REM (Scott Kim) | DIVE Studios’ MINDSETIn 2014, DPR (Dream Perfect Regime), a multi-genre music label and video production company, was co-founded by Christian Yu (also known as IAN and former C-Clown‘s Rome), Scott Kim (also known as REM), Hong Dabin (also known as LIVE)—all of whom attach the label’s acronym “DPR” to their names—each playing a different part in the creative collective.

Important sidenote* – starting this year, I’ve come to the decision that its ultimately best I release myself of all management responsibilities going forward in regards to DPR. This may come to a surprise for many as I’ve always prided myself on being that position for this team

artistic endeavors going forward – whatever that may end up being! Hope yall understand and continue to support nonetheless…!????

For a while, fans assumed that REM might simply be taking a break. Yet, DPR LIVE didn’t include him in an appreciation post at the end of the Regime Tour Seoul Finale, alluding that REM was no longer part of DPR.
Now, Dabin has released the diss track “WMP freestyle” as part of his new EP Giggles, and it’s about REM. Throughout the song, Dabin exposes a person who scammed him out of money by “selling” his “voice,” and he mentions him by name with the line, “Taking a REM sleep.”

Dabin has made it quite clear to fans that REM and DPR didn’t part ways amicably as he shouted out “F*ck REM!” live at the Giggles Listening Party. Since then, fans have called out REM for allegedly scamming Dabin.

As DPR fans initially trusted REM, and he allegedly was involved in producing some of their favorite DPR IAN songs, they expressed anger and disappointment.
rem produced all my favorite dpr ian tracks now why'd he have to get greedy. pic.twitter.com/yRGEI1WMAl

Yet, according to DPR IAN, REM never was involved in the production. DPR IAN cleared up this misconception as he explained that he had seen “a lot of people think REM produced my songs for some reason.” He confirmed that only he and DPR CREAM had produced the songs in question.
I don’t know where you get that from. He did not make any of my songs… at all. And, I told them to correct that on the credits. I have no idea why it’s written like that on the credits, but that’s absolutely not the case.
— DPR IAN
DPR IAN talked on his recent live about the rumour that REM has written all his songs
“He didn’t produce any of my songs. It was actually just me and Cream” pic.twitter.com/Y0gKpznt6J

After both DPR LIVE and DPR IAN called REM out, REM returned to social media after months of inactivity. Yet, he only apologized to Dabin, which was not well-received by the fandom.
i hope you receive this message in love more than anything else dabin. despite everything, i still believe deep down you know my heart better than most. I sincerely pray that this becomes a step in healing as well as reconnecting..
— Scott Kim
if you’ve met each other, dabin wouldn’t go THAT far, ian won’t talk about how HIS songs is under ur name, they’ve kept it all for so long not explaining anything and it benefits you as well, you don’t fckn know how people doubt what dabin tried to tell us months ago, people are… https://t.co/5jwhNkXooc

So you only apologize to Dabin? After you heard “AYO FUCK REM” How about ian? How about cream? How about all DPR teams. https://t.co/Kr34oALuRf

Finally, REM returned to X to address the allegations that he wrongfully took credit for producing DPR IAN’s songs. He claimed another employee made a “mix up” while “inputting metadata,” and he claimed to have spoken to Ian personally about the matter.
to set things straight, i have and will continue to make my amends internally within the team. Also, regarding ian’s producer credits, i have addressed this to him personally already, but to clear up the confusion, that was not done by me nor have I tried to purposefully take credit for producing any of his songs up until this point. That was a mistake on behalf of one of our employees that was in charge of inputting metadata at the time. I would not flagrantly take production credit in front of Ian – especially when I was not involved in it. I am not a music producer by any means. i was the executive producer however, and I believe that was the mix up that had been made.

Still, fans think it’s suspicious. DPR didn’t have many known employees, so there are limited choices to blame. Considering he was the business manager, fans are not buying REM’s statement, especially since he did not tag DPR IAN like he tagged Dabin in the previous post.
he blamed someone else and who was in charge FOR THAT?
— fay (@mito_is_real) January 25, 2024
if you search “iite cool” producers some articles from 2021 will show up stating that mf is the producer, that means it’s been like that SINCE 2021 and he didn’t check it? he had to wait for ian to tell everybody? and now he blamed someone for that? anjing pic.twitter.com/9MB4LBjhSX

wrong credits for 1-2 songs could be considered as mistakes ok! but there are 28 songs under rem’s name, and it benefits him. i’m not talking about royalties, it’s about how credits could affect people’s trust for dpr and ian himself, who heard lot of people say their fav dpr… pic.twitter.com/2rVp11USff
