If you’ve seen one of Gong Yoo‘s films or K-Dramas, you know it’s practically impossible to not have a crush on him! Still, although he’s captured the hearts of many, Gong Yoo believes he’s not the type of guy women like in real life.

While appearing on the variety show You Quiz on the Block in November 2020, Gong Yoo described himself as shy and said that he’s not the tough, cool guy some fans may think he is based on the characters he’s played.

Gong Yoo also said that fans’ mental image of him as a sweet, caring, romantic man isn’t entirely accurate either. He said, “I have this caring image because of the roles I played in the dramas, but I’m a little more careless than what people think, so I’m not that kind of person.”

He also revealed that he isn’t the type of person who makes their feelings obvious, so women might not like that he isn’t super affectionate.

Gong Yoo also said he’s not bold when it comes to love and that he finds talking about his feelings awkward. He said, “I’m not the type that women like. I don’t think I’m the kind of man who’s bold or courageous in front of love.”

He also explained that he enjoys his job as an actor because he’s able to express the things he’s too embarrassed to say in real life through his characters. “There are things I couldn’t do because I’m embarrassed or because I’m shy. If I borrow the character, I can do everything. I get vicarious satisfaction from that.”
