Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung Gets Hit On By A Much Younger Guy

Girls’ Generation member Sooyoung revealed she was hit on by a much younger guy who persistently asked for her number.

On December 14, Sooyoung was a guest on singer Jo Hyunah’s YouTube talk show Jo Hyunah’s Thursday Night.

During the interview, Sooyoung shared a story she had never shared in a broadcast before. She revealed she was approached by two men in Apgujueong, Seoul, on a chilly day around early this year or last year.

Two young men… I think in their early 20s? They were walking towards me holding their cellphone! So I thought they wanted a picture with me so I was preparing to say hi. But he said, ‘Hello… I don’t normally do this… It’s my first time in my life…’ So I said, ‘Oh yeah, of course!’ I thought they were saying that it’s their first time asking for a photo with a celebrity.

Although she thought they were simply asking for a photo, she quickly realized she was wrong.

He said, ‘I’m sorry, but if you don’t mind, can I get your number?’

She shared that she had a mask on but pulled it down and asked, “Yes?” However, the guy still didn’t recognize her and again asked her for her number.

Sooyoung added that the friend next to him tried to be a wingman by emphasizing that it really was his first time asking a girl for her number.

She eventually told him she had a boyfriend, who everyone knows is actor Jung Kyung Hyo.

However, the guy asked if she was using the “boyfriend” excuse as a way to reject him and even asked her how long she had been dating her boyfriend.

Sooyoung found the situation hilarious and answered that she had been dating her boyfriend for a long time.

I couldn’t believe the situation. It was funny even while I replied, ‘Me? 10 years!’

He still asked for her number, saying maybe he could contact her when she posts a status like “All men are the same” on her KakaoTalk profile one day, showing his persistence.

Sooyoung thought about revealing her identity to the guy but hesitated for more than one reason.

If I say I’m Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung, the kid might feel so embarrassed. And what if he said, ‘Who?’ I was a bit scared of that happening, too. I was thinking about what I should do, but I just said, ‘I’m sorry,’ and he gave up.

The man never eventually found out about her identity.

Jo Hyunah then did some calculations and predicted that the guy was in his early 20s, meaning he was born around when Sooyoung debuted.

So that person didn’t know you were Girls’ Generation’s Sooyoung and thought you were just a tall and pretty woman around the same age as him… Didn’t you debut in 2002? You’ve been in the industry for 20 years but if he never saw you, it means that person is in his early 20s.

In the end, Sooyoung said the whole experience made her feel really good.

Sooyoung debuted as a member of the Korean-Japanese singing duo Route 0 in 2002 in Japan then debuted as a Girls’ Generation member in 2007. She and Jung Kyung Ho have been in a relationship since 2013, and they are considered one of the most adored long-term Korean celebrity couples.
