“The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract” | @mbcdrama_pre/Twitter…beating the rivaling series, My Demon, for SBS.
Both shows premiered on November 24, 2023, as some of the most anticipated weekend K-Dramas for each broadcasting channel’s last 2023 K-Drama lineup.
While My Demon has remained within the 4 to 5% viewer ratings, The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract has gained a steady momentum—almost doubling from 5.6 to 9.6% in six episodes.
| NAVERViewers have shared that the main leads are “good at portraying their characters…”
| theqoo- “So fun! I haven’t been this hooked on a K-Drama in a while.”
- “The latest episode was frickin’ hilarious. I have red knees from slapping them so hard while laughing!”
- “F*cking good!”
- “I started watching because of the main leads’ background stories. I’ve been keeping up with the episodes, and it’s been so fun to watch. Haha.”
- “The two main characters have sparks FLYING. The script is cute, the directing is decent. And for a 12-episode show, the plot is solid. It’s a well-developed K-Drama for sure!”
- “The best!”
- “I’ve been keeping up with this one. It’s good.”
- “F*cking good, I swear… What an insane K-Drama!”
- “I started watching it because I like the male lead. And now I’m falling in love with the female lead! It’s hard for a K-Drama to take off unless the main leads have good chemistry, you know.”
- “Yesterday, I had this playing in the background. And soon enough, I was fully hooked. Haha. It’s good!”
- “Bae In Hyuk’s going to make it big. LOL. Hwaiting!“
- “The latest episode was the funniest, haha. I was wrapping up Castaway Diva, so I missed some of the first few episodes. But now that Castaway Diva is over, I’m going to be fully invested in this one!”
- “I took Bae In Hyuk to be the quiet and shy kind. LOL. It suits him so much better when he’s all jealous and silly, though! Haha.”
…and that the romantic plot thickening has them hooked!

In 19th-century Korea, a woman named Park Yeon Woo (Lee Se Young) is ready to live happily ever after marrying her handsome husband. But the night of the wedding, disaster strikes: Her bridegroom tells her he was secretly suffering from a devastating heart condition—and dies shortly after. Things go from bad to worse when she is kidnapped and thrown down a well shaft…apparently to her doom.
But the well turns out to be a portal that lets her travel through time to the present day, landing in a swimming pool. She is saved from a watery death by Kang Tae Ha (Bae In Hyuk), who, like Park Yeon Woo’s husband, suffers from a potentially fatal heart condition. Kang Tae Ha is the heir to a powerful conglomerate, and his wealthy grandfather has one wish: To see his grandson wed before he dies. Spying an opportunity, Kang Tae Ha tries to convince Park Yeon Woo to enter into a contract marriage with him. But will this strange woman, with her old-world Confucian values, agree to help him?
