Ailee Wants To Stop Singing “Ex-Boyfriend Repellant Songs” For The Sake Of Her Love Life

Power vocalist Ailee recently confessed she didn’t like singing one of her biggest break-up anthems and that she wants to stop singing “ex-boyfriend-repellant” songs.

On comedian Park Myung Soo‘s KBS Cool FM radio show Park Myung Soo’s Radio Show, Ailee appeared as a guest on the December 4th episode.

Ailee, who is currently in the midst of a nationwide concert tour, shared that she has been doing this for five years and that “the performances are really fun.”

She also announced a new corner in her concert where she will sing impromptu as per fans’ requests.

There’s a new corner that you can’t miss at Ailee’s concerts. It’s my 12th debut anniversary next year. There are too many songs, and I can’t fit them into 2.5 hhours. So, I take on-the-spot song requests and sing them without accompaniment.

Being a diva singer in Korea with powerful break-up anthems, she is known to have what Korean netizens call “ex-boyfriend-repellant songs.” However, the singer herself confessed that she is refraining from singing “ex-boyfriend-repellant songs” because of how it may affect her love life.

I’m in my late 30s now, and if I keep only repelling, I feel like I won’t be able to date and meet someone.

Ailee also confessed her dislike for her hit song “I Will Show You,” sparking curiosity among Park Myung Soo and listeners. She explained why she initially didn’t like the song.

I debuted with ‘Heaven’ and wanted to do cool R&B and pop music… It was a genre I had never tried before. I didn’t understand it at the time.

She added that her opinion on “I Will Show You” has changed 180 degrees.

Now, it’s a song that I love so much. I still get the most excited when I sing this song.

Ailee also mentioned that she was invited to perform at a pre-party for the Grammy Awards. She also intends to sing carols at her concert during the Christmas season, exciting her fans.

“I Will Show You” is one of Ailee’s representative songs and one of her “ex-boyfriend-repellant songs.” It is a powerful and belty break-up anthem from 2012 about getting revenge on an ex-boyfriend by upgrading her looks and showing him how amazing she is to make him feel regretful.
