It’s against these headwinds that BABYMONSTER released their debut single, “Batter Up.” The powerful song harkens back to BLACKPINK and 2NE1 anthems, and its music video revels in all of the label’s past glory and glamour.

Another glaring sentiment was that the group was lacking star appeal. The criticism is surprising in that it is aimed at the group following in the footsteps of BLACKPINK, a group whose members are each superstars in their own right.
