Popular K-Drama Brings Together Multiple Couples During Filming

On the screen, K-Dramas are the perfect romantic fantasy getaway for many viewers, so much so that fans of a show often end up rooting for an on-screen couple to get together off-screen. Sometimes, celebrities who work on a show together do end up dating in real life, like Son Ye Jin and Hyun Bin or Lee Do Hyun and Lim Ji Yeon.

However, sometimes, a K-Drama becomes so powerful that it produces multiple real-life couples on set. One such recent show would be MBC‘s My Deares, starring Namkoong Min and Ahn Eun Jin. The drama saw a successful run, ending with a remarkable in-house record viewership of 12.9% on November 18. In fact, the show got so popular that it had to be extended to 21 episodes from its initially planned 20 episodes.

As the show’s crew celebrated the success on November 18, an insider revealed that the drama had brought together nine couples on set!

The insider in question is a Dankook University professor who taught the actors the Manchu language. He took his Instagram and shared a story saying My Dearest created nine couples from just one team of the entire production crew!

Given that there were multiple teams involved in the production process, the number of couples is expected to increase.

Netizens reacted to the news, saying that the drama’s title lives up to its name since the Korean title of the show is Lovers. Many also pointed out that since the filming took almost a year, it was natural for people to get closer and develop relationships. It also reminded netizens of another hit K-Drama, Reply 1994, that reportedly brought together 11 couples during filming!
