Netizens Criticize BABYMONSTER Chiquita’s “Mature” Styling Despite Being Just 14-Years-Old

After a long wait, YG Entertainment‘s newest girl group BABYMONSTER is set to debut.

One of the trainees who quickly became a fan favorite was Chiquita. Yet, concerns were immediately raised when netizens found out that when the members were being introduced, the young trainee was only 13 years old.

Even when the final lineup was released and promotional pictures were shared, Chiquita was only 14 years old, much younger than most idols.

On November 13 (KST), YG Entertainment started posting the teaser pictures for BABYMONSTER and Chiquita was first. In the photos, Chiquita looked much more “idol-esque” with darker and more sophisticated makeup, teamed with a black and red outfit.

Along with the photos, a video was also posted.

Yet, while many fans loved the fact that BABYMONSTER was getting ready for their debut, and it started with Chiquita, many were concerned about the idol’s styling.

In particular, Chiquita is not only the maknae of BABYMONSTER, but she was born in 2009, which would make her 14 years old and one of the youngest idols in the industry.

While many pointed out that it seems hypocritical to keep speaking about young idols debuting when they continue to be popular, it seems to be the styling of Chiquita raising concerns. From her clothes and makeup, many believe YG Entertainment is trying to make the young idol look older.
