The K-Pop Boy Group That Was “Super Popular” The Moment They Debuted

When you think of K-Pop boy groups that started the third generation wave, the first artists that probably come to mind are EXO and BTS. These two groups are inarguably some of the most successful K-Pop boy groups in the history of the music genre, and even now a decade after they debuted, their presence is still strong and influential for new artists.
EXO in the early daysBut there’s another boy group that debuted around that time that, though they have sadly disbanded since then, made a major impact on the K-Pop music industry with an explosive first single that remains iconic to this day.
BTS in 2013 | BIGHIT MUSICOn January 25, 2012, B.A.P made their debut with “Warrior”, setting themselves apart from the popular pretty-boy trope at the time by going for a more “tough, bad boy” image.
All of their six members were also bleach blond at the time, which really made them stand out no matter where they went!
B.A.P | TS EntertainmentThe single album Warrior sold over 10,000 copies during the first two days after its release, which was huge back in 2012. At the time, they were seen as the biggest competitors with none other than EXO themselves, which goes to show just how successful they were even though they came from a much smaller label.
| TS EntertainmentThey continued to release major hits, including “No Mercy”, “One Shot”, and “1004”, to name just a few.
Sadly, they only had a few years of this growing popularity before they ended up filing a lawsuit against their then-label, TS Entertainment, in late 2014, which ended up putting a halt to their success. While they did eventually settle the lawsuit and had a comeback in August 2015, the hiatus and ensuing battle between B.A.P and TS Entertainment took a huge toll on their career.
