“The Uncanny Counter” Actress Kim Se Jeong Hushes Viewer Concerns Over Screenwriter Switch With A Promising Update

… idol-turned-actress and female lead Kim Se Jeong took to her personal Instagram account and commented on the issue.
Shortly after the production announced its new screenwriter Kim Sae Bom, viewers openly expressed their disappointment in the “shaky plot development” in the latest episodes — and, so it seems, the reaction has reached the cast.

- “I’m not sure I can keep watching this anymore. It’s already so different from the webtoon. And now, with a new screenwriter stepping in so last minute, I simply don’t think it’s going to be as well made as the first dozen episodes had been.”
- “The plot started to feel really forced at one point… I guess the switch really left an impact. And K-Dramas are 90% screenwriter’s ability to pull a story together. Without the original screenwriter finishing the series, I have little expectation.”
- “Why the barrier…? Why the nonsense new settings? Why the horrible computer graphics? Just why? And the new counter in the teaser for next week? Sh*t is really falling apart now. They’re trying to revive what is already dead.”
In response to the growing concern, Kim Se Jeong asked the viewers to “Trust [them] and keep watching“.

Most viewers remain optimistic about the final two episodes, especially with Kim Se Jeong’s reassuring words — but some found the “relatively rookie” actress’s comment to be less than helpful to the situation.
- “Can we please keep calm and trust them, like she suggested? If you don’t want to watch anymore, stop watching. I don’t understand what the problem is.”
- “I don’t know, man. She’s a rookie actress. She can’t know the details behind why the original screenwriter left. I think it would have been better if she didn’t comment on the departure at all. Why drag herself into the controversy?”

The Uncanny Counter became the first OCN K-Drama to break 10% viewer ratings. With its continuing success, a second season is reported to have been discussed. So when the original screenwriter Yeo Ji Na “left after disagreeing on how to wrap up the series“, viewers became worried that the withdrawal will not only cause a break in the flow of the plot, but also jeopardize the second season.
