CNBLUE’s Jung Yonghwa Clarifies The Truth Behind His “We Got Married” Romance With Girls’ Generation’s Seohyun

Recently, CNBLUE member Jung Yonghwa brought up past stories of when he was “married” to Girls’ Generation‘s Seohyun on the MBC show We Got Married.

On September 20, Jung Yonghwa appeared as a guest on SBS Power FM‘s Kim Young Chul’s Power FM and talked about his experience filming We Got Married with Seohyun.

The host, Kim Young Chul, informed the CNBLUE singer that Seohyun would be appearing on his show next week as a guest and that she talked about her experience on We Got Married in a different broadcast. He then asked Jung Yonghwa if he occasionally keeps in touch with her, and the singer replied honestly that they do not keep in touch, but he is “cheering for her.”

In 2010, Jung Yonghwa and Seohyun were a fake couple in We Got Married, a show where Korean celebrities were paired up to be couples and given missions to complete. It showed the audience what they would be like if they were married. Because both Jung Yonghwa and Seohyun were in two of the most popular K-Pop idol groups at the time, the two received a lot of love and attention worldwide.

Jung Yonghwa recently addressed his experience on We Got Married while on singer Kangnam‘s YouTube talk show Kangnami.

One of the stories discussed was the “couple ring incident.” During We Got Married, Jung Yonghwa and Seohyun got matching couple rings, but during CNBLUE’s comeback live broadcast, his ring was missing. This created a buzz among fans, and Jung Yonghwa finally addressed the truth behind this incident.

I did We Got Married for about a year and a half… [The couple rings] were real. I even wore it when I showered. However, the ring was cheap, so it corroded. I didn’t lose it. As soon I finished my broadcast, I looked for the ring and this moment was shown on the show.

He also shared vivid memories of the filming atmosphere during We Got Married. He clarified that while people believed the show was scripted, the reality differed from what they thought.

Many people believe that We Got Married is scripted. There was a script. However, we didn’t know [anything about the script]. If we were sitting on a couch, the production team didn’t direct us on what to do. It was all our own abilities from there. Whether we chose to take a bus or a taxi, it was our own choices.

He further revealed how busy he and Seohyun were at the time because of their separate idol-group activities.

We were both really busy at the time. We only slept for two hours a week.

Despite being tired and not having a script, Jung Yonghwa and Seohyun made hearts flutter with their “romance” on the show over ten years ago. Although they don’t keep in touch regularly, they are busy and passionately working on their careers.
