Block B’s Park Kyung Ordered To Pay 30 Million KRW To Lim Jae Hyun Following False Accusations Of Chart Manipulation

Block B‘s Park Kyung has been ordered to pay soloist Lim Jae Hyun ₩30.0 million KRW (about $22,800 USD) following his false accusations of chart manipulations against Lim Jae Hyun.

According to an exclusive report from Ilgan Sports, the Seoul Eastern District Court’s civil affairs unit ruled in favor of Lim Jae Hyun, ruling Park Kyung must compensate Lim Jae Hyun with ₩30.0 million KRW (about $22,800 USD) following Lim Jae Hyun’s lawsuit filed against Park Kyung back on August 18. As this case was a civil litigation, the maximum compensation amount commonly recognized by the court is ₩30.0 million KRW (about $22,800 USD).

The defendant (Park Kyung) insisted that he is sorry for not carefully checking his facts before claiming that the plaintiff (Lim Jae Hyun) manipulated the charts.

The posts from the defendant can be recognized as defaming the plaintiff, and the defendant must pay compensation for the mental pain suffered by the plaintiff.

Ilgan Sports has stated that Park Kyung has already made the compensation payment to Lim Jae Hyun.

Lim Jae Hyun’s legal representatives stated that they took Park Kyung to court after Park Kyung failed to apologize, which is what Lim Jae Hyun had wanted, as well as wanting to tell the world the outcome of the case.

The lawsuit was initially slated to go to mediation. Park Kyung’s side requested that this agreement be kept private during the process. We were dissatisfied with the amount of compensation that his side offered and with the request for non-disclosure of the agreement.

Lim Jae Hyun filed his initial lawsuit against Park Kyung in November 2022, claiming ₩100 million KRW (about $75,900 USD) in damages due to his mental pain and suffering following Park Kyung’s post. Lim Jae Hyun stated he hoped for Park Kyung’s sincere apology and waited three years, but it never came, so he filed a lawsuit.

Back in November 2019, Park Kyung took to his social media to call out artists he believed used chart manipulation tactics to increase the ranking of their songs.
