Only 4 K-Pop Songs Made It To TikTok’s Top Summer Hits In South Korea

On platforms like TikTok, catchy hooks and danceable tracks find their biggest fan base. So it’s no surprise that K-Pop songs thrive and constantly go viral among its users. But this summer, a twist in the tale was observed.

As TikTok revealed its “Song of the Summer” list, only four K-Pop songs made the cut for South Korea’s top ten summer hits.

TikTok’s system of selecting the top ten tracks isn’t arbitrary. It gathers data from June to August, identifying which tracks have been most frequently used in content creation. These popular singles not only indicate the musical preferences of TikTok’s vast user base but also spotlight emerging trends in music consumption.

1. NewJeans’ “Super Shy”

Topping the list was K-Pop most recent sensation,  NewJeans, with their infectious track, “Super Shy”. The song evidently resonated with a multitude of users, leading to it becoming the dominant musical backdrop for countless short-form videos across the platform in Korea.

2. (G)I-DLE’s “Queencard”
