Lady Vengeance tells the story of a woman wrongly accused of murder searching for revenge after spending thirteen years in prison.

Despite this being her first acting role, Ra Mi Ran had to deal with the challenges of playing this character because it was a role that had some uncomfortable scenes.

In the first scene Ra Mi Ran ever filmed as an actress, she had to undress and film a scene in a bath with the “Witch.” When the director yelled, “Cut!” she couldn’t come out of the water because she was exposed.

But my first scene was the bathhouse scene. I had no clothes on and normally when the director yelled, ‘Cut!’ all the staff members ran to the actors to cover them up because their bodies were exposed. But no one came to me. I couldn’t even get up from the water.

Thanks to the makeup team manager who said, ‘Bring her a blanket,‘ she was able to come out of the water. However, Ra Mi Ran recalled feeling so sad and lonely—but this emotion worked to her advantage when the next scene required crying.

Because of this, the production team was amazed at her acting skills. Looking back, she realized this unplanned setup helped her have an amazing shoot without nerves getting in the way.

Ra Mi Ran said that even Park Chan Wook, the director of Lady Vengeance and Oldboy, praised her acting skills after this scene.
Since her film debut with Lady Vengeance, Ra Mi Ran has continued to prove her incredible acting skills and is now considered one of the best actresses in Korea. In 2012, she was praised for her role in the film Dancing Queen and was called a “scene-stealer” in the hit K-Drama Reply 1988 in 2015. She also showed her musical talents and humorous personality through the reality show Sister’s Slam Dunk, where she was in a temporary girl group called Unnies with Jessi, Tiffany, Min Hyo Rin, Kim Sook, and Hong Jin Kyung.
