Sandara Park Apologizes To Her Secret Celebrity Ex-Boyfriend For Ghosting Him

Singer Sandara Park, who recently made a comeback as a soloist, confessed the struggles of secretly dating during the heyday of her former group 2NE1 and shared stories about dating her ex-boyfriends.

On August 16, Sandara Park was a guest on MBC‘s talk show Radio Star, where she stated that she is an expert on a specific type of dating: cyber-dating.

As a member of one of the biggest girl groups in K-Pop history, she could not date freely. She stated that trainees would get cut if they were caught dating.

Even as a trainee, you get cut if you date because you’re supposed to focus on practicing. After debuting, there is a 5-year dating ban. So I always chose to cyber date.

She clarified that she would mainly communicate with her boyfriends through text messages. She rarely met them in person because of her fear of getting caught in public.

For example, if we date for six months, the most we see each other is one or two times in the car.

Sandara Park then shared an anecdote about what she did to her ex-boyfriend because of her fear of getting caught dating by the paparazzi.

Once, I was given vacation days and so my boyfriend and I planned to go on a trip, and he was excited for the trip. But on the day of the trip, I got scared because at that time, if I went outside, people said, ‘Look, it’s 2NE1!’ There were a lot of paparazzis. So on the day of the trip, I ghosted him. He called me multiple times but I just looked at the phone and said, ‘Sorry.’

When one of the hosts, Kim Gu Ra, asked her if the ex-boyfriend was a celebrity, Sandara Park confessed that he was.

After Sandara Park ghosted him, he broke up with her, and on Radio Star, she apologized to her ex-boyfriend for what she did back then.

Sandara Park then shared another anecdote with a different ex-boyfriend about how she was almost caught while on a date. On a cold winter’s day, she went on a date in Kyungridan, a popular place for young people. She was covered up from head to toe in a padded jacket and a mask. Suddenly, she smelled baked sweet potatoes, and because she was hungry, she went to the source of the smell.

However, what shocked Sandara was the person who was selling the sweet potatoes in the street—it was rapper Cheetah. Cheetah sold sweet potatoes on the street and donated the proceeds to charity as part of her charity work.

I ran over and the person who happened to be selling sweet potatoes was Cheetah. Rapper Cheetah sells sweet potatoes every winter and donates the proceeds. So I went and because we were close, I thought rumors might spread so I ran away.

Sandara shared the sad fact that she and that ex-boyfriend could never eat at a restaurant or date comfortably in public before they broke up. She then apologized to him as well.
