AI (Artificial Intelligence) has become a hot topic recently.
One of the many reasons for the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (Sag-Aftra) and the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike is that studios want AI to replicate actors. Writers also want assurance that AI won’t replace them.
Oh, you guys want to strike?
We'll just replace you with AI …“Disney has created a task force to study artificial intelligence and how it can be applied even as Hollywood writers and actors are on strike to limit the use of the technology.” pic.twitter.com/zXxahDcHze

AI is affecting K-Pop too. There are social media accounts dedicated to creating and posting AI-generated song covers. Many fans are against AI-generated covers, which infringe upon the artists’ intellectual property. Additionally, by feeding artists’ voices into an AI program, netizens inevitably contribute toward future situations where these tools can be used maliciously.
Potentially future problems is trolls/antis using these programs to make the members say things they've never said to cause confusion and harm in the community. Right now, there is not enough power in laws to prevent and have consequences for these cybercrimes.

I’ve already seen people on tiktok feeding Joon’s voice to a voice Ai to make one of him reciting the lyrics of The boy’s a liar pt 2, which is sort of cute as an isolated thing, but what else would jobless people do with joon’s voice ????

K-Pop idols are joining the conversation now too. K-Pop soloist Jeon Somi posted two video reactions to AI vocal covers via TikTok.

Her initial reaction was shock. She couldn’t believe how much the AI-generated voice sounded like her own.

First, Somi reacted to an AI vocal cover that imagined her singing NewJeans‘ “Super Shy.” She started singing along to compare her own voice with the AI-generated one, and it sounded like she was duetting with herself!

Somi then reacted to the AI-generated cover of her singing BTS Jungkook‘s “Seven (feat. Latto).” Again, she was shocked. But, this time, when she sang along, there was a clear difference between the two, proving that AI covers really cannot replace the original artist.
@somi_official_This is crazy like wuuut…?
