Idol-turned-actor Hwang Minhyun was the most recent guest on BTS Suga‘s variety program Suchwita, and the two idols who debuted a year apart swapped stories from their trainee days and their debut-era promotions.

What didn’t help his nerves, though, was that the group wasn’t allowed to utilize a vocal backing track for their performances, so each stage was fully live.
Hwang Minhyun and Suga acknowledged that it wasn’t as common to use backing tracks during live performances at the time of their debuts.

Hwang Minhyun hilariously recalled that NU’EST’s styling and stage props during their debut-era caused issues during their performances.
For their “Face” promotions, the group used chairs as a main part of their choreography.

They wore customized school uniforms with accessories on their clothes, such as chains, which Hwang Minhyun shared would get stuck on the chairs, causing the group to have to stop their performance.

Although they didn’t have the smoothest experience promoting “Face,” the song is still beloved to this day.
