BLACKPINK’s JennieJennie discussed several topics, including talking about her days as a trainee. During one portion of the interview, the BLACKPINK member mentioned that while she was a trainee, her label wanted them to not only be able to sing in Korean but have them cover many pop songs as well.
| jennierubyjane Official/YouTubeThe variety of different vocal styles that we got to experience was definitely something that helped me throughout the way. The good thing about the label I was under was not only that they wanted us to sing in Korean but we would cover so many pop songs as a trainee so by the time we had to record our actual song for BLACKPINK we were able to play around the language, the rhythm, all sorts of things that effect the music with the cultural difference.

She was talking about her past days as a trainee and that's how you address in past tense, stop making everything look so dramatic when it's not. Post the whole context!
