Fans Praise A 4th Generation Idol For Being “Real” In The Face Of Industry Standards

The K-Pop industry typically holds idols and trainees to incredibly high standards. Whether they are expected to fit beauty standards or kept from dating, fans know the extreme expectations placed on idols.

But despite these standards, idols often speak up about the pressure they face in the industry.

My dream is to bring healthy change to the world. I do not think highly [enough] of myself or feel entitled to speak on behalf of a whole industry, or claim that transformation will happen by my hand alone. I simply dream in hopes that someone will hear my voice because change can only happen when someone actually listens. And that first step for me was “I ≠ DOLL.” I don’t expect it to make a drastic change, but hopefully the lyrics made at least one person think and include themselves in the narrative.

And one recent moment from one of BLACKSWAN‘s live broadcasts is gaining attention from fans for discussing the “perfect” image idols are supposed to have.

During the live broadcast, Nvee sang Bruno Mars‘s song “That’s What I Like.” As she sang the song, she sang the line “Sex by the fire at night…”

Before quickly adding that as “a grown adult,” she shouldn’t have to censor the word “sex.”

The clip shared on TikTok quickly gained attention, having gotten over two hundred thousand views at the time of this article. Fans loved how “real” Nvee was.

And shared that they don’t understand why “grown adults” in the K-Pop industry have to keep censoring themselves.
