After two years, Kim Seon Ho recently returned to the screen with his first role in a movie called The Childe. His much-awaited comeback received even more attention because the actor assumed the role of a villain for the first time in this film.
Kim Seon Ho in “The Childe” | The Korea TimesRight from the day of the teaser release, Kim Seon Ho’s incredible transformation caught fans by surprise. In the film, he plays the role of a professional serial killer, which is a total 180 from his last and perhaps, most memorable role till now—Hong Du Sik from Hometown Cha Cha Cha.
Kim Seon Ho as Hong Du Sik in “Hometown Cha Cha Cha”While viewers can’t seem to get enough of this new side of the actor, Kim Seon Ho himself was apparently not very thrilled to see himself on the big screen. In a recent interview, the actor revealed that while watching the movie, he became uneasy and started to notice every little mistake in his performance.
Since it was my first time seeing myself on the big screen, I became self-conscious and began scrutinizing my every flaw.

But the most “cringe-worthy” part, Kim Seon Ho shared, was watching himself speak English. He said, “My English accent was so cringe-worthy that I nearly leaped out of my seat.”
Given his hard-working mindset, it is highly probable that this self-criticism of the actor is more than what his actual performance might have warranted. When asked about how he hoped the audience to respond to his big-screen debut, Kim gave a humble reply, “I want the audience to think that I’m capable of playing a wide range of roles. I hope they don’t say things like ‘he was completely miscast.’”
The Childe will be released in Korean theatres on June 21.
