SHINee’s Onew To Sit Out Of Comeback Promotions Due To Health Issues

SM Entertainment recently announced that SHINee’s Onew would be halting activities for the time being due to health issues. He will be focusing on recovery and, therefore, not be participating in the group’s upcoming concert and album promotions. Below is the full statement released on the Kwangya app.

Hello, this is SM Entertainment. First, we would like to thank the fans who love and support SHINee. We would like to inform you about the health condition of Onew and his participation in future events.

In celebration of SHINee’s 15th anniversary, the group held a fan meeting in May and has been preparing for a June concert as soon as they finished working on the eighth album’s release.

Recently, Onew visited the hospital after experiencing health issues and has since received a medical examination and consultation. It has been advised he will need medical care and rest. After careful discussion with the group, they have decided to have Onew focus on recovering for the time being as he will be unable to participate in the upcoming activities.

Therefore, the upcoming concert and album activities will proceed with Key, Minho, and Taemin. We will do our best to assist Onew so he can meet fans again in good health. We will inform you as soon he is recovered and can return to the stage.

We understand that SHINee’s promotional activities have been long-awaited by the members, fans, and the company. We would like to emphasize that this decision was made to ensure that the group may continue activities in good health for a long time.
