ASTRO Members Cha Eunwoo And Sanha Visit The Late Moonbin’s New Memorial Site

On June 4, KST, ASTRO member Cha Eunwoo posted a series of pictures and videos on his personal Instagram that showed him and co-member Sanha at a place that appears to be the Namhansanseong Fortress. It is the new memorial space of their late group member Moonbin.

Moonbin passed away on April 19, and since then, fans have been gathering at his memorial sites to pay their respects to the late idol. Initially, the group’s agency Fantagio had set up memorials at the front of its building, which was later shifted to the parking lot, and then to the rooftop. Though two months have already gone by since Moonbin’s tragic passing, fans continue to show up at his memorial to grieve his loss and leave flowers and letters behind.

The current memorial site on the roof of the Fantagio building will be officially closed on June 6 at midnight. The date marks the 49th day since the idol’s passing, and according to Korean traditional beliefs, the deceased’s soul lingers for 49 days before leaving this world.

However, Fantagio announced on June 4, KST, that after discussing it with Moonbin’s family, they are preparing an off-site memorial space to allow fans to mourn and honor Moonbin for longer. Per his family’s request, the memorial space has been set up at Gukcheongsa, a Buddhist temple in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do. This dedicated site will be called “Moon’s Space.”

It looks like Cha Eunwoo and Sanha quietly visited this new memorial before its opening to the public. In the videos posted by the former, the two can be seen standing shoulder-to-shoulder at the temple as they gaze down at a peaceful view of downtown Seoul.

The place will be opened to the public on June 7 at 5:30 am. Fantagio has asked visitors not to leave food offerings there, but they can bring letters or notes that will be collected periodically.
