Fans Have Mixed Feelings As aespa’s Karina Says Goodbye To Her Blonde Hair

When aespa‘s Karina was first spotted with what seemed to be blonde hair during the filming for a music video in early April, fans were excited to see the K-Pop idol try out a light-colored hairstyle for the first time in her career.

It was soon confirmed that she had dyed her hair a platinum blonde for the group’s My World promotions, and the look was met with heavily mixed reactions. While most agreed that she looked stunning with the color, others thought that dark hair suited her much better, or that it only looked right on her when she was also given dramatic makeup looks.

Others worried about the damage that the extensive bleaching process would do to her hair. Karina was known for having long, silky, luxurious-looking locks, and bleaching is known to cause pretty serious damage to hair if not properly taken care of. Even Karina herself recently stated that she would never dye her hair blonde again after the damage it got from the bleaching process.

But now, only about seven weeks after Karina was first spotted with the bleached look, it seems that she has already returned to a more comfortable hair color for the last of the group’s “Spicy” promotions.

For their recent performance at Inkigayo — where they earned their fourth win for “Spicy” — Karina was once again seen with her usual black hair, matching the dark colors of the rest of the group’s members.

Some fans believe that she changed it back prior to their promotions ending due to aespa attending the 76th Cannes International Film Festival as Chopard global ambassadors this week.

The topic of her sudden and early hair change was brought up on an online forum, where fans had a lot to say about the entire ordeal. Most seemed to agree that the damage done to her hair wasn’t worth the few weeks that she was actually seen with it. Opinions about how well the blonde color suited her are more varied, but some wished she had been able to try a few other different pastel colors before changing back to black, since she’s said she never wants to go blonde again.
