LE SSERAFIM’s Kazuha Opens Up About Leaving Behind Everything She Knew To Become A K-Pop Idol

LE SSERAFIM recently released a four-part documentary detailing the months leading up to their debut. In it, they introduced each member and how they came to be a part of the group.
Kazuha was approached about the opportunity of joining LE SSERAFIM’s debut team after another trainee, Haruka, was told she wouldn’t be debuting in the group.

Haruka had been training alongside Yunjin, Chaewon, and Sakura until that point, so it was important to the staff to find someone who would fit the group’s decided concept to maintain the trust between LE SSERAFIM and their company.
It was very important for us to reassure the members. We wanted to give them trust. About the new member, we promised we would find someone that fits the brand concept we agreed upon within the given time.

This led them to Kazuha, whose first appearance in the documentary showed the future idol in Amsterdam. She was there studying ballet at the Dutch National Ballet Academy but was already preparing as a trainee, working with a dance trainer and vocal coach.
Despite her extensive training in ballet, she didn’t have experience with other styles of dance, which dance trainer, Jang Hye Rin, noted held her back in comparison to other trainees.

Kim Sori, a vocal trainer, shared the company had concerns about Kazuha adapting to life as part of the debut team. She acknowledged the language barriers and cultural differences Kazuha would have to overcome and adapt to, revealing the company hoped the idol would remain motivated to overcome her obstacles.

Kazuha had the drive and motivation to succeed, as K-Pop was a new start for her. In the second episode of the documentary, Kazuha revealed that she started ballet when she was three years old, and while she was an accomplished and awarded dancer, it became her life.

She began to question if ballet was really what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. She shared that she had struggled with her life direction since she was in the 9th grade.

Her decision to leave everything she knew behind and to focus on becoming an idol over continuing her career in ballet led her to become a LE SSERAFIM member. The company held a conference to share LE SSERAFIM’s concept with the group, showing exactly why Kazuha was chosen for the group.

Although Kazuha was determined, the road to debut wasn’t always easy. Only three days after going to Korea to begin practicing with her future group members, she broke down in dance practice. Proving her professionalism and drive to succeed, she shared she had been practicing the choreography by herself to not burden the other members.

The dance trainer tried to console her by reminding Kazuha she had only been with the group for one or two weeks when Sakura revealed it had actually only been three days.
The instructor was surprised and complimented Kazuha’s skills, saying that from watching her she thought she had been practicing for weeks.

Kazuha’s determination to overcome any obstacle on her path to debut shows her hardworking personality and confirms her decision to pursue the unknown paid off for her.
