Whether it is albums, tours, or even products they’ve just used, BTS has a habit of making things sell-out. Tickets for their tours can literally be sold out within a matter of minutes, even for the largest venues. Lines are massive as ARMYs wait for a glimpse of their favorite group.
It seems like it isn’t just concerts that people are lining up to see. At the end of August, a BTS pop-up store was opened in Toronto, Canada, at the Toronto Eaton Centre.
From the minute it was open, it was always busy with queues, and many were even camping for hours to make sure they had a first chance of buying BTS merch.
Unsurprisingly, after seeing the amount of merchandise at the store, it wasn’t shocking to see why ARMYs were queuing, as they had so much amazing stock.
Yet, not even two weeks after the store opened, it was recently announced that the location would be temporarily closing. According to the shop’s Instagram account, they explained that they were sending out a notice to make fans aware.
Yet, it was the reasoning explained in the second image on the post that showcased BTS’s true influence globally.
The company explained that, even after being open for only a few weeks, they had sold out of everything at the store. They also added that the global situation made it almost impossible to keep the store open while catering to the demands of fans.
In an article from DailyHive, they interviewed the founder of Sukoshi Mart, the company that opened the store. Although Linda Dang explained that the issues weren’t helped by importing goods from overseas, she also stated the importance of the shop’s popularity.
‘It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say things were literally “flying off the shelf,”‘ she said, adding that the purple Tiny Tan whale mood light sold out within hours on opening day.

While many emphasized the influence of BTS, others joked that ARMYs are always saying how broke they are but have managed to buy so much from the store that they couldn’t keep up with demand. Some even joked that Canadian ARMYs were “really thirsty” for the merch, and that’s why the demand was so high.
There is no denying BTS’s influence, and like King Midas, it seems like everything they touch turns to gold. Hopefully, it won’t be long before the shop gets a restock and Canadian ARMYs can go and get the rest of their merch. With other pop-up stores opening globally, including in Dubai, it is truly a great time to be an ARMY.
