What happens, though, when this love turns into something bordering obsession?
In Ahmedabad, India, more and more schoolchildren were reported needing counseling and intervention from trained psychologists due to BTS addiction of which 70% were female.
Dr. Kalrav Mistry, a psychiatrist at the Shalby Hospital, shared that they get about 5 to 7 cases of BTS obsession per week.
Over 15 kids have come seeking help for their BTS obsession in the last ten days, and almost 70% are girls.

One teenage girl paid a considerable sum to learn a specific BTS dance choreography and broke her laptop in anger when questioned about it. A 14-year-old girl was so addicted to BTS that she couldn’t eat or sleep properly and listened to the band’s music for hours on her laptop and phone.
Parents have started closely observing their kids’ preoccupation with BTS and reached out to seek more information as they were unaware that being a BTS fan could lead to addictive and obsessive behavior. Many schools have also employed full-time psychologists to help students cope better with their BTS addiction.
Dr. Ajab Primuswala, a psychologist at a well-known school near SG Highway, connected rising gadget dependency with BTS addiction.
Now, the proliferation of Korean pop bands is affecting children. Recently the band performed live at 4 am, and many children remained awake to watch the performance live online.

The doctors have advised parents to closely watch their children’s internet activities and look out for any behavioral changes.
