Seoul Is Still Recovering From Its Historic Flood, And These Celebrities Are Doing Their Part To Help

This past week Seoul was hit with a historic downpour, resulting in the flooding of the city’s southern districts, namely Gangnam and its surrounding neighborhoods.
The storm has killed seven people, and six people are missing. According to reports, damages to the city have been extensive as subway stations, stores, and up to 3000 cars were submerged underwater.

As Seoul begins its road to recovery, these celebrities are doing their part to ensure that the city heals sooner than later.

On August 11, the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association reported that beloved comedian Yoo Jae Suk has donated ₩100 million KRW (about $76,500 USD) to recovery efforts. The comedian’s agency released a short statement regarding this.
After hearing about the livelihoods that were lost, he donated in hopes that those who were displaced could get back on their feet.

The Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association released a statement promising the funds would be allocated directly to those who were displaced by the storm.
We will make sure that the warm donations made by Yoo Jae Suk, along with so many others, will be sent to those who were displaced.

Yoo Jae Suk is not the only star to help out. On August 11, it was also revealed that Kim Go Eun donated ₩50.0 million KRW (about $38,300 USD) to the relief efforts. The actress’s agency BH Entertainment revealed this in a statement.
Kim Go Eun donated in hopes that those who were affected by the storm would be able to return to their lives.

And PSY, who has become synonymous with water this summer, also donated to the relief efforts. The Korean Red Cross revealed on August 11 that the singer donated ₩100 million KRW (about $76,500 USD).

These celebrities, including Kim Hye Soo, Im Si Wan, Kang Tae Oh, Yoon Sae Ah, Han Ji Min, Park Na Rae, Arin, Kang Seung Yoon, Park Jin Young, and others, are doing their part to help recover what was lost in the storm.
