As for RM, he went “Namjooning” in Boston, a city that’s nearly an eight-hour drive away from Washington, D.C. Here, RM relaxed by the Charles River…
…and visited the Museum of Fine Arts.
In a post captioned, “2 Boston 4 Guston..from Washington,” RM shared photos from the museum’s Philip Guston exhibit. Guston was a Canadian-American painter, printmaker, muralist, and draftsman born in 1913.
As a teen activist, Guston began his art career by painting political murals. In the 1950s, he became a pioneer of abstract expressionism before delving into neoexpressionism in the 1960s.
Guston’s five-decade career abruptly ended with his death at age 66 from a heart attack. This iconic artist passed away 42 years ago, but his legacy lives on in his work and in art lovers like RM who share it with the world.
